Players and Parents,
Due to a change in my schedule, we will have to cancel open polo this Thursday, July 19th. We will resume next week on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:00 and go until 6:30.
I will be on vacation next week, Coach Badenhop will be at open polo next week to answer any questions you might have. I’ll try to check my e-mail, but I won’t be able to get access everyday. I have to drive to a place to get connected.
I am currently trying to work out training for van drivers, I’ll keep you all posted as to what I can work out.
A reminder that picture Day is August 15th. We are trying to schedule the pictures at either 4:30 or 5:00, prior to the start of practice.
Meet the teams will be after practice on August 22nd.
Please remember to make sure you have your forms and physicals completed by the start of practice on August 1st. You can bring them to open polo next week, drop them off at my house, or have the office place them in either mine or Coach Badenhop’s mailbox at the High School.

Milkshake Stand at the Fair – The polo boosters are running the milkshake stand at the fair on Monday August 13th. There are morning, afternoon and evening sessions to staff. Please contact Jay, Tracy or Terri Haase if you can work any of the sessions. The parent’s boosters expect to raise $450.00 in this effort. There will be a sign-up sheet posted on the website. Player should sign-up for the morning or afternoon session. We especially need parents to help out staffing the evening when the players are at practice. I believe the sessions were 9:00AM-1:00 PM, 12:45PM-4:45PM, 4:30PM to close (check the sign-up sheet to verify those times)
Van Drivers – Doug Palmer, the new transportation director is checking into van training, as well as if there is anything that can be done for people that have a CDL, but do not have the passenger rating. I will keep you posted as to the any future training that will be offered. Also, anyone that needs to be recertified, there is a class for re-certification at Northwest State on Friday morning. The video tape of that class will be available later, if you would rather be re-certified that way. The class is two hours long (obviously the tape is two hours long as well). I will let everyone know when the tape is available.
Van Driver sign-up sheet – I will get something posted for the website. If you want to drive for a particular tournament, let me know and I’ll get you on the list.
Picture Day reminder for August 15th – We will get packets to the players prior to the picture taking before practice. Pictures will be at 4:30 – Practice starts at 5:30. Have your packets filled out and checks/money with you to hand in right after the pictures are taken.

Players and Parents,
Just a reminder that we will be fitted for mouth guards on Wednesday evening. These mouth guards are optional, but highly recommended. Anyone wishing to be fitted for a mouth guard, should bring $12 to practice Wednesday evening. Dr. Burns will be there to take impressions. If there are many request, he will make another trip to practice to get everyone. I would like to thank Sharon Evans, Dr. Burns and Betty Burns for offering this to our players.
We are currently running an alumni and friends of Napoleon Water Polo fund drive. We currently have almost $1000 raised already, we still need $800 more dollars to pay for the replacement shot clocks (one is non-functional and the other is on it’s last leg). Tracy Junge has raised facilitated much of the funding through some private donations. Four years ago, we raised almost $2000 through alumni donations. My distribution list is much smaller than from the last fund drive (outdated e-mail addresses), so if any of you know of people that would like to be added, please refer them to our Water Polo web-site. There is a place for alumni and friends to get on the list. Or give them my e-mail address. I would like to have as large of an alumni e-mail distribution list as I can.
I have attached our first issue of the Napoleon High School Water Polo news. This will come out at the beginning of every month, and be sent to all contributors to our fund drive. The later editions will have articles from games, player profiles, schedules and other news related to Napoleon High School Water Polo.
Picture Day is August 15th. Our pictures are at 4:30 at the pool, just prior to practice.
The van driving sign-up sheet will be updated shortly. If you can fill any of the spots, email me or sign-up on the Water Polo web-site. I still haven’t found out anything from Doug Palmer about the driving certifications, I’ll let you know as soon as I hear from him.

Parents and Players,
Just a few notes for the upcoming weekend:
Thursday – The boys will be inside after school. The girls will practice outside, weather permitting at 5:00 (We will move inside if there are storms). The girls can go to my house after school if they need a place to study, or just to eliminate another trip to and from home.
Friday – The boys will practice outside after school, until warm-ups start for the weekend tournament. The girl’s varsity and JV have games at our home tournament outside.
Saturday – The JV boys travel to Milford for one day of games. They leave at 6:15 in the morning. Meet outside the bus garage. The girls have games inside and outside at our tournament.
Monday – Practice is cancelled.
We still need some volunteers for our girl’s tournament. I will attach the current sign-up sheet. If you can fill a spot please let me know.
